ORA means light in Hebrew. We take that seriously.
ORA Magazine is a luxury Jewish lifestyle and culture magazine dedicated to showcasing the beauty, creativity, and depth of contemporary Jewish life. Through refined editorial, thoughtful features, and striking visual design, ORA explores culture, style, food, travel, and ideas shaping Jewish identity today.
Founded on the belief that Jewish life is rich, multifaceted, and worthy of elevated representation, ORA offers a modern alternative to news-driven or politicized narratives. Instead, we focus on culture as continuity and highlight how people live, create, gather, and express meaning across generations and geographies.
ORA sits at the intersection of luxury, culture, and Jewish identity.
Our stories span fashion and interiors, culinary traditions and contemporary ritual, personal essays and in-depth interviews with cultural leaders, creatives, and taste makers. Every issue is curated with intention and designed to be both visually beautiful and intellectually substantive.
Elina Furman has spent her career in service of a simple belief: that stories told with beauty and intention have the power to move people.
ORA was born from a moment of profound clarity. As legacy media increasingly failed to reflect Jewish life with integrity and depth, Elina recognized an urgent call to reclaim the narrative. She founded the first glossy Jewish lifestyle magazine ORA to bridge the gap between profound historical awareness and a sophisticated, modern aesthetic.
From coming to the US as a Kyiv immigrant to forging an editorial career in New York, Elina publishing experience spans work at Hachette Filipacchi and Primedia, as well as authoring over 20 books.
For Elina, our stories are too luminous to be confined to a fleeting digital footprint. They deserve the permanence of a printed masterpiece. Through ORA, she has created a 180 page sanctuary where fashion, lifestyle, art, and identity converge—a cultural record designed to live forever on the coffee tables of the world.
Maddy Hershlikovitz, ORA’s Managing Editor, Israel, has spent over a decade working closely with women across fashion, culture, and community. Formerly Head Producer of Nashim Magazine and founder of a boutique travel brand in Morocco, her work sits at the intersection of storytelling, identity, and experience. Blending editorial instinct with deep ties to the American Jewish community, Maddy shapes content that brings Israel into sharper, more nuanced focus for a global Jewish audience.
